La-La Land Crafts Thank You

 Hello! It's already Friday again! The week just flew by. 

This week our theme at La-La Land Crafts is Thank You. There are so many directions you could go with this. I chose to make a thank you card for a doctor. We all know they have been working themselves to the bone during this pandemic. 

We cannot ignore the fact that Luka makes THE CUTEST doctor either. I love any and all things Luka, so I am a little biased. 

I have been looking at Luka's shoes and his slacks. His shoes are colored with C's and his slacks are colored with W's. The C's have what looks like a blue tone to me. I am really not liking that on his shoes. Hahaha! I should have stuck with the W's. They are my favorite.

La-La Land Crafts Love You Card

 Happy Friday!! I am so happy to be able to excape reality for a little time in my safe place...my craft room. The things going on in our country are unsettling. I won't get into that though.

Let's talk about LOVE!! Our first assignment as a La-La Land Crafts Design Team is to create a Hearts/Love themed card. Perfect since Valentine's Day is just around the corner. 

Now, I know that not all of us are a fan of Valentine's Day. However, I am sure you can think of someone in your life who needs a little extra love. A kind word or just a card to say, I am thinking of you. Do that with hearts!! 

It took me FOREVER to figure out what papers to use for this image. I had some sort of idea of the layout and that I wanted black to be my layering color. Then I remembered the NEW Home for Christmas Paper Pack. I love the Wood papers!! The light grey wood paper worked perfectly for what I had in mind. 

I was feeling quite lazy when I was making this card. It was late and I just really didn't want to do it. I had debated cutting the hearts and words out of colored paper to make it easier on myself. In the end I decided I needed to color the die cuts. I am so glad I did. I love the depth that they have. I know that I wouldn't enjoy them as much if they were cut out of colored cardstock.

I love these kittens! So of course I chose to create with them for my first two club projects. 

These cuties are a bunch of trouble makers...getting into the yarn. I'm glad they are just stamps because if I was knitting they'd be driving me bonkers! 

As some of you already know, we foster kittens for our local no-kill animal shelter. Our shelter has the most loving employees and fosters. I know the animals there get the best care. 

Having kittens is a lot like having a baby. They get into everything. They demand your attention. They eat, poop, and sleep a lot. They love to snuggle! 

Ok, enough about that... let's get back to the cards! 

I started out by grabbing the paper. I almost never do that. I usually color and then choose my papers. I like to live on the dangerous side. 

Since the paper has gold accents, I went with a yellowish/gold yarn color. I wanted my kitten to have a lot of contrast from the yarn so black it was. He turned out looking a lot like our current foster kitten, Lucy.

Siamese kittens!! Siamese kittens are often favored by a lot of people. Which is why my next card has two of them. You can watch me color one of them on my Club Reveal video HERE. 

It took a lot of time to color all of these balls of yarn by hand, but I love the dimension and contrast you achieve by doing this. 

You've heard me say it before and you'll hear me say it again, it's the little details that make your card stand out. Details like hand-colored die cuts.

The texture in Marci's coat is created by using colorless blending solution. I put it on a towel and then put the towel on her jacket. You can create all sorts of different textures by using colorless blender.

I love how the bright colors pop against the white. This is the first time I have used this green combo. I am in love!

La-La Land Crafts NEW RELEASE Winter Wishes Marci Card

 Hi there! You may have seen that La-La Land Crafts is having a New Release. We finally get to see what's in the Winter Box! Well, you get to see it in the shop. Unfortunately, my DT package has been lost in the mail. So my projects only showcase the new stamps. 

It's ok though! The new stamps go well with old dies too! 

The first card that I made showcases Winter Wishes Marci. She is gorgeous! As are all of the new rubber stamps that were released. 

I got a tiny bit carried away filling my shaker with microbeads. To read the sentiment you have to swirl the beads around. 

The sentiment reads "sending warm hugs and lots of love." 

The background paper is from the New Home for Christmas Paper Pack. I love the colors in this paper pack! It's full of nontraditional Christmas colors. 

Fireplace Die is what I used for the bricks. I cut the fireplace apart and glued each brick to the background paper.

La-La Land Crafts November 2020 Club Kit Reveal

 Hey friends! Back with my second post for today. The La-La Land Crafts Club Kit reveal! I know you have been anxiously awaiting this kit. The La-La Land Crafts Virtual Retreat set the release back a few days. 

Here is the first card that I made...

The dies that come in this kit create the perfect little village. And how about those bears!? They are so freaking cute! I added eyelashes to the one above to make her look a little more feminine. Little details like eyelashes can make a very big impact on the way your image looks. It's the little details that matter the most. 

I wanted to color Marci's coat to look like one of those puffy coats. I'm not sure I achieved that, but I do love how it turned out. I used E44, E43, E42, E41 and E40 to color it. I think the E40's have become my favorite brown combonation. The E40's are the colors I used on the bear as well.

My sweet friend Cristena, from Copictopia, did the coloring for the product sheet this month. I love the bright color she used for Marci's jacket!

The second card that I made is a shaker. You know I love my shaker cards! 

I used the polaroid from the Photo Elements Die set to create a snowy village. My daughter, Echo, helped me find the perfect glitter and sequins for the shaky bits. 

In both of today's cards, I used the Summer is Here Layering Stencil and distressed inks to create a cloudy background. You can make many different cloudy skies using this technique.

La-La Land Crafts Tag

 Hi friends! Today is a busy day for my blog! I have the La-La Land Crafts November 2020 Club Kit reveal and my La-La Land Crafts Friday inspiration project. 

The theme for our Friday inspiration project is tags. I know a lot of people really enjoy making tags. I however am not a fan. They just never seem to turn out good for me. 

Although the tag I made is super simple, I do like how it turned out. It looks clean. I really like that. 

I put a pocket on the tag to make it a gift cardholder. More than likely one of my girls will find this in their stocking on Christmas morning. 

I'm not sure why Winter Molli looks like she has a skin disorder. Hahaha...she doesn't look like that in real life.

La-La Land Crafts Farm Fresh Z Pop-Up Card

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I have a new type of card to share with you today. It's called a  Z Box Pop-Up Card. I had not seen one of these cards before. I found the Z Box Pop-Up Card on the Split Coast Stampers Blog. It was perfect for the La-La Land Crafts 3D theme. 

I used the Comfy Sweater Marci that I colored recently for the Thursday Tutorial. You can find that video HERE.

The card lays flat for mailing. 

Here's a look at it laying out flat. SO many die cuts to color!! This card was really a labor of love. It took a long time to make, but I love how it turned out!

La-La Land Crafts Fluffy Hat and Cozy Sweater Coloring Tutorial

Good morning friends! It is my turn to do the La-La Land crafts Thursday Tutorial. I had a lot of comments and questions on the fluffy hat I colored last week, so I thought I would do a coloring tutorial on that. 

As I was scrolling through images to use for my tutorial, Comfy Sweater Marci stood out to me. She has on the perfect hat and sweater for the cozy look I am going for. 

For the hat, I used a flicking technique to make it appear fluffy. Short little flicks in random places going in different directions. 

To color Marci's sweater, I used a dot technique. This technique takes quite a bit of time, but the result is well worth it.

La-La Land Crafts This Is How We Roll Card - New Release

Good morning friends! It's Friday, which means the La-La Land Crafts Team Friday has some awesome inspiration for you. This week we are using the new release. There were so many goodies released, we couldn't stop at just one week of inspiration. 

I chose to work with the Soy Happy for you Clear Stamp Set. These little hamsters are the cutest! I mean look at him hiding behind that bowl of rolls. 

The sentiments that are in the Soy Happy for you Clear Stamp Set are adorable also. 

The card base is 6 1/4 inches x 3 1/2 inches. When I am layering a card I typically make each layer about 1/8th - 1/4 of an inch smaller than the last. 

To be honest, I don't measure it. I just eyeball it. I know some people like to have things measured, but I like to live on the wild side. 

I love how the black die cuts pop against the gold paper.

La-La Land Crafts Taco Tuesday Card NEW RELEASE

EEEKKKK!!! I have been waiting for so long to share this card with you. This is my all-time favorite set of La-La Land Crafts Critters. 

I haven't always been in love with Chihuahuas, but they have grown on me. Really it's just been the last few months that they've caught my eye. 

My son adopted a sweet 7-year-old Chihuahua recently. Her name is Butters. She is just the cutest thing.

La-La Land Crafts New Release - Marci In Tunic
