Happy New Year With The Cutting Cafe

Hi there! This week at The Cutting Cafe we are working on bringing in the new year. Can you believe that it's 2017?!? The years seem to be flying by. I, for one, am ready for 2016 to be over with.

For my project I used three Cutting Cafe files. The 2017 Number Shaped Card, the Card In A Box, and the Card In A Box Embellishments. It has been a long time since I have made one of these Card In A Box cards. I forgot how much I like them. The set even comes with a file for an envelop. I used my Cricut Explore to cut out the card, envelop and the embellishments.

The Card In A Box flattens for easy mailing.

The image is Party Girl Avery from Paper Nest Dolls. I colored her with Copic markers and cut her out with my brand new Brother Cut'N Scan 2! (It was an early Christmas gift from my husband)

I use floral wire and hot glue to add the embellishments. I like the floral wire because I can bend the wire to perfectly place the embellishments.

And here's a close up...

Thank you all for stopping by. If you visit and leave a comment on The Cutting Cafe DT inspirational post on the 21st you will be entered in a chance to win three free Cutting Cafe files of your choice. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season.
Hugs,
Tina Goodwin

From Trash to Treasure with The Cutting Cafe

Hello crafty friends! This week at The Cutting Cafe we are turning trash into treasure. I always have a lot of fun altering items. Especially when it's something that I would normally throw away.

Here's what I came up with...

What started out as trash...

was quickly transformed into a beautiful Christmas gift full of my Mother In Laws secret family recipe of Nuts and Bolts.

The adorable little girl on the front is Christmas Elisha Jean. This set comes with Elisha Jean, two friends, and sentiments. You can find more Elisha Jean and Friends printable sets at The Cutting Cafe.  If you prefer actual stamps over the printable stamps you can find Everyday Elisha Jean and Friends  in The Cutting Cafe Shop

I colored Elisha Jean with Copic markers. I decided to go with a non traditional Christmas color combo. I love seeing all colors used on Christmas projects. Really, you can make any color a Christmas color. What is your favorite Christmas color combo?

The Happy Holidays sentiment is one of the sentiments included in the Christmas Elisha Jean and Friends stamp set

I love this BoBunny Christmas paper. There are soft snow flakes randomly placed on the planks of wood.

My only problem now, is to decide who will get my altered piece of art =)

Please stop by The Cutting Cafe on Dec. 7th to take a peek at what the rest of the design team came up with. If you leave a comment on that inspirational post, you will be entered in a chance to win three free Cutting Cafe files of your choice.

Thank you for popping in for a visit. Have a craftastic day!

Sparkling Lung Cancer Awareness Easel Card Guest DT For Die Cuttin' Divas

Hey there! Today I have the honor to guest design for Die Cuttin Divas

The theme for today's project is "Make it Sparkle." It fit perfect with my Lung Cancer Awareness theme for this month.

I used the Saturated Canary image Boobie Love. Sadly, Saturated Canary has closed down, so this image is no longer available.
I colored the image using Copic markers.

To make things sparkle, I added glitter to the butterflies, the word hope, flowers and the cancer ribbon. The white twine I used is sparkly too. 4
I wish the sparkles would show up better in the pictures!

I love this sentiment! It is from a custom stamp set that I had made at The Cutting Cafe Shop. Regina, the owner, put the stamp set in the shop for purchase because people were asking me where to get it. So, if you'd like a  Chemo Grad stamp set head over to The Cutting Cafe Shop.
The flowers and pearl trim are embellishments from the etsy shop Lavish Laces. I use hot glue to attach them.

Dies used
Art-C Butterfly stamp & cut set
Spellbinders - Les Papillions Two
Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson - Finishing Touches - Delicate Fronds
Cricut Explore and Cricut Image sets

Thank you for stopping by today. This is my last Lung Cancer Awareness project for the month. I have really enjoyed my quest to raise awareness. Thank you to all of you who have helped me this month. I truly appreciate your time, support and love. And a BIG thank you to Die Cuttin Divas for letting me guest design today.

Hugs,
      Tina

Faery Ink Awesomeness and DT Application

Hello all! I've got a treat for you today...not one, not two, but three projects made with BEAUTIFUL Faery Ink images for the DT call. I adore these fun, whimsical, creative images. I love them so much i60 Faery Ink images! I first heard of Faery Ink about a year ago in the Facebook group Kit and Clowder. I saw the image Destiny Snow Faery and instantly fell in love. I think my favorite Faery Ink image is the newly released Destiny Snow Whisper. She is absolutely gorgeous! I will be adding her to my collection very soon!

Oops! Here I go jumping in to my fun and just realized some of you may not know what DT stands for. DT stands for Design Team. A lot of artists and companies that sell craft supplies have design teams. The design team is a group of people that work with the images and/or craft supplies from their company in order to help promote the company and products/images. For instance, I am currently on 4 design teams...The Cutting Cafe, Paper Nest Dolls, Scrapbook Stamp Society and a My Besties New Release Coloring Team. My job as a design team member is to have projects made using images/products from each company on dates designated by the company owner/artist. I then share the project I made on my blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Sharing on these social media sights not only puts the company products out there, it helps me promote my blog. Each week, I designate a couple of hours to each design team. If I take on new design team positions, lets say for Faery Ink, I would dedicate a couple hours each week to that position also. Some people might think that's crazy, but crafting is my passion. It brings me so much joy to be able to turn a piece of card stock into a beautiful card.

Destiny Lollipop is the image I chose for my first project. Isn't she gorgeous!?! This is one of those images that "spoke" to me. She had to have red hair and a bright green dress. Bright green is not usually a color that I work with, but it was nice to step out of the comfort zone of my favorite combos.

I colored Destiny Lollipop and the rest of the images today, with Copic markers. Why?  Because Copic markers are my all time favorite coloring medium. The colors blend effortlessly, at least now anyways. When I first started coloring with Copic markers, about two years ago, I thought I'd never get the hang of coloring with them. With help from the awesome Kit and Clowder classes, reading, watching tutorials and LOTS of practice, I have improved my coloring skills immensely.

After Destiny Lollipop was colored, I decided to make an easel card for her. I started with a 6 & 1/2 x 11 in sheet of white cardstock. I scored the cardstock at 2 & 1/2 inches and 5 inches. I folded the scores to make a kind of triangle over the base of the cardstock and then added a 6 x 6 in piece of card stock for the top portion of the card.

I cut solid colored cardstock to layer the card. Getting about 1/8th of an inch smaller (on each side) with each layer. Then chose a patterned paper that I thought made Destiny Lollipop stand out. I fussy cut her and adhered her with foam squares st that she would stand up off the card a tad. I then chose a lace and flowers to match the paper and hot glued them on. The card was missing something...that's when I added this gorgeous dragonfly from Renea's bouquets

Now on to the second project I made. A card with Shyflower Fairy.  This image was a lot of fun to work with. She looks magical. Which is why I decided to add embossing powder to the image after I colored her. It give it that sparkly look that you often see floating around fairies.

I stayed a bit more traditional with my Shyflower Fairy card. I just folded a 8 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in half and added layers of solid cardstock and then patterened cardstock. I used laces from Pamela Joys Art Friends on Facebook. assorted flowers and butterflies from Renea's boutquets to embellish. I always use hot glue for adhesive with my flowers. It is easy to use, dries quickly and keeps them in place.

My third project is an altered paper bag using Destiny Poodle Skirt . This is another one of the Faery Ink images that I instantly fell in love with.

I used records that I cut out with my Cricut Explore, cardstock, a doily, seam binding, flowers and lace to dress up this little bag. It will be the perfect way to send a special treat to someone special.

AND one more thing...I colored up this adorable Snickerdoodle & the Snail  image. I was trying to remember what a snail shell looked like (you don't see many snails in Alaska) when I decided to go to Pinterest for some inspiration. HOLY SMOKES!! I had no idea that a snail could be so beautiful! They come in just about any color you could imagine. So many possibilities were running through my head. I decided to go with a shell that had several different colors.

I love how it turned out! Coloring is so much fun! This may look like it was hard to color, but I simply chose different colors and went around the shell making little flicks until it was completely colored.

All three of these lovely projects and the coloring of Snickerdoodle & the Snail  will go to people that are in need of a little "pick me up." That's what I do with most of the projects I make. Which is why making cards is my favorite craft. Cards are a great way to show someone that you are thinking of them and bring a smile to their face. Even if its for just a minute. It makes me feel so good to bless others with a little happiness. I think that might be my purpose here on this Earth...to serve others and use my hobbies and talents to brighten peoples day. I have found that doing service for others is a great way to fight depression also. You help yourself while helping others...what could be better? I know it can be hard to put yourself out there...especially if you are like me and are not a real people person, but you really can make a difference in someone's day, maybe even their life by a small simple gesture.

I have been told several times that I need to open up an etsy shop or some other kind of shop to sell my cards. I have thought about this a lot, but haven't decided if I want to turn my hobby into a business.

Thank you all for stopping by to visit. I hope you have enjoyed my Faery Ink projects.
Have a craftastic day!

Hugs,

Lung Cancer Awareness Step Card with The Cutting Cafe

Hello, crafty friends. This week at The Cutting Cafe we get to work with any file we want. How do you choose just one file?!? I mean, they have so many awesome files!

I decided on using 3 files to make one card. I used the Step Card file (which comes with 5 different step cards), the Breast Cancer Awareness T Shirt file and the Believe Shaped Card

I used my Cricut to cut out the cards and words. The cancer ribbon is from a Cricut image set.

The image I used is Breast Cancer Fighter from KennyK Stamps. They also have a pre Colored Breast Cancer Fighter for those that don't color.

I hope and pray that a cure for lung cancer and all cancers will be found SOON!

November 15th marked four years since my Dad passed away from lung cancer. I sat on my Dads hospital bed, held his hand and said "Dad, we are going to be ok...you will be ok." His responce to me was "well, lets get 'er done." I had the honor of holding his hand and praying over him until he took his last breath. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of my Dad. I love and miss him so much.

After my Dad passed away, I wanted to find a way to help people with cancer. I heard of Chemo Angels through a craft group on Facebook. It was the perfect way for me to get involved with people going through cancer.

Thank you all for stopping by today. If you stop by The Cutting Cafe on the 21st and leave a comment on the DT inspirational post, you will be entered in a chance to win 3 free files of your choice.

Santa's Helper...Paper Nest Dolls

Hi everyone!
Today I am playing with an image from Paper Nest Dolls!

I used Winter Gift Emma for my card today. She is colored with Copic markers.

This image is just the cutest! She reminds me a lot of my daughter Echo.

She makes the perfect Santa's helper. Which reminds me...only 41 days until Christmas! Which means I need to be getting my booty in gear on those Christmas cards! Paper Nest Dolls have lots of super cute images to choose from if you are making your own Christmas cards or tags. Here's the link to Christmas images.

I embellished with flowers from Lavish Laces Etsy shop and lace and seam binding from Gone Artsy.  Gone Artsy is closing =( She has everything on sale in preparation to close at the end of the year. If you want some great deals, you'd better hurry. Things are already starting to sell out.

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a craftastic day!

Stamping Bella, Up Town Girls and Quick Creations Guest Design Team Call

Ok, so, I'm totally hooked on these Stamping Bella, Up Town Girls!  When I saw that Quick Creations was having a guest DT call, I just had to apply, using these cute stamps.

The requirements for the GDT call was to make 2 projects.
I used Petunia Gets A Piggy Back for my first card.

I was thinking of two people when I made this card...my Mom because she likes lady bugs and my Sister In Law because she likes pigs.

I didn't have any lady bug paper, which I really wanted to use on the card. Then I remembered that I had lady bug fabric! PERFECT!!!

I colored the image with Copic markers.

My second card is using Lolly and Her Brolly. This was my very first Stamping Bella, Up Town Girls stamp and my first stamp from Quick Creations.

I colored this image with Copic markers too. Copics are my favorite coloring medium.

Here's another shot from a different angle. Photography is another hobby of mine. I was so excited to take these pictures and put to use some of the things that I had learned in the photography class that I recently took. It was only a two hour class, but I learned a ton!

Thank you so much for stopping by to visit.. Wish me luck in the Quick Creations GDT call!

Lung Cancer Awareness With Ady Almanza Image

Hello! Hello! Hello!
I am back with another lung cancer card, but before I tell you about that I want to tell you about a cool experience that I have had through doing this Lung Cancer Awareness month on my blog.

Whenever I do a project, I share it in multiple Facebook groups. One project that I shared in a Cricut group that I am in had several comments...people saying that their parents or other family members have passed away from lung cancer. One comment was from a lady that had lung cancer herself. Of course I commented back...something along the lines of I'm sorry and I will pray for you. Well, over the next couple of days I kept thinking of this woman. I felt compelled to P.M her and tell her about Chemo Angels (an organization that sends out cards to those going through chemo). She was excited to hear about them and we have started chatting. She sent me her address so I could send her cards =)

Ok, on to my card!

This card is featuring a stamp from Ady Almanza's Etsy ShopShe is called Strong Woman

It was about a year ago (I think) that Ady drew this beauty. I saw her and begged her to turn her into a digi. SHE DID! I was so excited.
I colored the image using Copic markers and then fussy cut her.
I had colored her before I knew what papers I was going to use. When I saw the digital papers that Bonnie, from Miss Daisy's Stamps and  We Are 3 digital papers designed for Lung Cancer Awareness month, I was excited to see that she matched perfectly.

I have been doing some research about lung cancer throughout my sisters journey. We have also been working with Genetic Counselors to find out why we have so much cancer in our families. This link has some great information about lung cancer. I hope you will take a few minutes to educate yourself. Lung Cancer is becoming very wide spread. It is known as the silent killer. Usually, because there are no symptoms until it is too late. We need to find a way to screen and discover this cancer in it's early stages so that people have a chance to fight for their life.

I will be sending this card to my new found friend that is fighting lung cancer.

It doesn't take much to touch peoples lives. A simple P.M, card, or even a smile. What will you do today to make someone's day a little brighter?

Shaking It Up With Paper Nest Dolls

Hi!! I'm thinking about Christmas again!

Today, I am playing with cute Elf Emma from Paper Nest Dolls. I colored her with Copic markers. You can find the color combos listed below =)

I decided to make a shaker card, 1) because it's been awhile and 2) well, because they are fun to play with! I could sit for hours shaking one of these things. There's something very calming about watching those little beads roll around.
The file for the shaker card is from The Cutting Cafe. It comes with 13 different Shaker Cards.  It's seriously a steal!
The tree is a Cricut image and the lights on the tree are from Miss Kate's Cuttables

I love the simplicity of this card. It's not often that I can create a simple card that I like.

Lung Cancer Awareness Gable Box

Hello! I am back again with a Lung cancer awareness project. This time I am using a file from The Cutting Cafe.

This beautiful box is called a Gable Box.
Putting this box together was extremely simple. I cut the pieces out with my Cricut Explore and glued it together in a matter of minutes.

The sentiment is from a custom stamp set that I had made at The Cutting Cafe Shop. It's called Chemo Grad. I use this often on cards for my friends that are going through chemo.

I stuffed my Gable Box full of flowers and laces.

I plan on sending this to my sister. She will be so excited to have these new crafting goodies.

The beautiful image is from Illustrations by T. This fighter image is one of my favorites. I colored her with Copic markers. Once she was all colored I added the polka dots to her tank top with a Tim Holtz stencil and texture past.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Don't forget to stop by The Cutting Cafe tomorrow, November 7th, to see the inspirational post from the DT. If you leave a comment on that post you will be entered in a chance to win 3 free Cutting Cafe files of your choice.

See you again soon!
