All About Pumpkins With The Cutting Cafe

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins! 

It's inspiration time over at The Cutting Cafe. Regina, the owner has several super cute pumpkin files.

I chose to use the Pumpkin Trio Shaped card and the 3D Pumpkin sets for my project this week.
Instead of using the pumpkins from the Pumpkin Trio Shaped Card for a card, I used them to make a sign for my mini pumpkin patch.
The papers I used are Recollections brand from Micheal's.
I sanded and stained the front of a dresser drawer that we had taken apart and attached the pumpkins to it with Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive.
The twine bow is attached with hot glue...to keep the twine curled I put hot glue on the parts of the twine that touched the paper. 

The flourish swirlies are from the Cricut image sets Soiree Lettering and Sweethearts. I thought  Glitter glue was the perfect addition to the leaves, stems and swirlies...well, because everything is better when it sparkles! The wood sign is from the image set Outdoor Man. I used a white Gelly Roll pen in my Cricut Explore to write Pumpkin Patch on the wood sign.

For the wood pumpkins I used 4x4's. I cut them in sizes ranging from 1.5 feet to 8 inches tall.

 I used a chisel to take the sharp corners off, sanded each chunk of wood and then spray painted them with this paint.



I put on 3 coats of Heirloom White. (letting each coat dry for 20-30 minutes before adding the next)
Once the white paint was dry I put on one coat of



and let it dry over night. (I purchased both paints at Walmart)

The stems are 2x2's cut at about 3 inches, sanded with an Oscillating drum sander for shaping and spray painted dark brown.

In the morning I sanded each 4x4 again for distressing, attached the stems with Elmer's Wood Glue and let dry.

I cut each one at different sizes, inked and curled the edges and then attached them to the stems with green floral wire.

I attached my burlap bow with hot glue. I love the way burlap looks on EVERYTHING! It gives a nice country feel.



I love how my pumpkins turned out! Even my husband was impressed when he saw them. I had worked on them while he was out moose hunting. Usually he is close by "supervising" while I am using his tools. Not this time! Don't worry honey, I was super careful with your babies =)

Fall Card

As promised I am back with my September Fall themed card for the Stamp Cache card contest.

This was one of those projects that I had an idea of what I was going to do when I walked out of the store with my little goodie bag. It doesn't always work like that for me. Often times I have to put a lot of thought into a project and change it a few times before it's done. Lol.

Here's a picture of what was in the goodie bag minus the stamp.

The rules for the contest are...1) you have to use a stamp from the store and 

2) You have to use 3 items from the goodie bag.

I used the paper (its 2 sided...I used the side not pictured) for the little girls rain coat, boots and hat.

I used the little gems as rain drops and I used one of the buttons.

The little girl is from the Cricut Image Set Kate's ABCs and 

the tree is from the Image Set My Quiet Book

I stamped the leaf on different colored paper, fussy cut them and then used Copic markers to shade them. I gently folded and curled each leaf to give them dimension.

The cloudy paper was done with an embossing folder from Darice. I used grey ink pad to make the clouds dark. 

I was having a hard time trying to fit in the blue button so I decided to spray paint it and turn it into a pumpkin =)

I'm taking it in to Stamp Cache this afternoon. Hopefully they love it as much as I do!

Stationery Caddy From The Cutting Cafe

It's inspiration time over at The Cutting Cafe! This week I decided to make a Stationery Caddy. The file comes with 3 different backs and different sized boxes. I absolutely LOVE this caddy! There are so many different things you could do with this!

The STATIONERY CADDY is very simple to put together. 

I am going to use it to store my pens so I need- it to be sturdy. I used cardboard from cereal boxes and then covered it with card stock. I used Tim Holtz black soot Distress Ink on the edges.

I used the Paper Flowers file from The Cutting Cafe to make the roses. The purple flower in the center is a fake flower that I bought at Joann's.

Elsa invitations and cupcake toppers

Who doesn't love the movie Frozen!?! It seems to be every little girls favorite right now. I'm not gonna lie...I it's my favorite Disney movie right now. Having 3 girls you know I've watched that move a million times! 

I looked on Pinterest, and Etsy, and Google for cute Frozen invitations and could not find any that I was in love with so I got to make my own =) 

The Elsa SVG is from Krafty Nook. If you have 't checked out this blog you should! She has a ton of AWESOME SVGs for free. Her work is amazing! 

Elsa has a lot of pieces! If I remember right I counted 26. To make piecing her a bit easier I decided not to use the tiny eye and lip pieces. I instead used a tiny tipped paint brush and painted those parts. I used a light shade of pink chalk as blush on her cheeks.

The paper I used for her dress I got at Joann's during their Labor Day sale. 

I embossed plain white paper with my very loved Cuttlebug. The snowflake folder I used is from Darice. I got it at Joann's. After embossing, I lightly inked over the snow flakes with an ink pad. I absolutely love how the embossed snowflakes look! 

The glitter around the edge of the card is Buffalo Snow Flakes. I have had this stuff for years! To adhere it to the card I just put a small bit of Scotch Quick-Dry adhesive around the edge and then poured the snowflakes on top. I gently pushed down on the snowflakes to ensure they would stick nicely. The fake snow is now all over the house! Lol. 

The snowflake for the cupcake toppers is a Cricut image from Winter Lace. I love this snowflake! To make these I just hot glued a toothpick in between snowflake layers. 

I put a gem in the center of them to give it a little bling.

Elsa really is a beautiful character!

Birthday Card For Stamp Cache Monthly Contest

Hello! I am super excited to be posting this today! Every month our local scrapbook/stamping store has a card contest. The rules are...

 1) Follow the theme they give you

 2) you must use a stamp from the store and 

3) you have to use 3 things from the little kit they give you (which usually contain 5-7 items in it)

I have know about this contest for a few years, but had never entered until August. The theme for the contest was Celebration. I chose to do a birthday card...

 I WON!! I won a $10 store credit =) Of course I already spent that and more!

The step card file is a file from a Facebook group that I am a part of...Cricut Lovers Guide to Design Space. It's a fun group of Cricut Explore users who share tips and projects. 

I used a dandelion stamp (purchased at Stamp Cache). I added Flower Soft to give it texture and look realistic. I have had Flower Soft for years and haven't used it much. I was excited to finally put it to use! 

I already got the kit and stamp for this months challenge. The theme is Fall. 

The paper is double sided...not sure which one I will use.

Back to School with The Cutting Cafe

Back to School! Already?!?! I don't know about you all, but our summer flew by. Visitors, hiking, camping, fishing and so much more. I love summer time here in Alaska! All that came to a screeching halt on August 14th. My kids went back to school. 

This year I have a Freshman, a 7th grader and a 2nd grader! BUSY! BUSY! BUSY!

When Regina told us about the back to school assignment, I decided that I would make a welcome back gift for my daughters 2nd grade teacher. 

I just love the little Apple treat box from The Cutting Cafe. When I saw it I knew exactly what I was going to do.

I let Kylah pick the paper for the Pencil Shaped Card and of course she picked green...her favorite color =) 

For the base of the supply tower I used a cheap basket that I covered in some pretty tissue paper.

Kylah was super proud to be walking into the school with her gift to the teacher! Mrs. Crump LOVED it!

Fall Wreath

Fall is almost here! I absolutely love the Fall. Beautiful colors every where, 

cold crisp air and lots of hot cocoa. 

My mom just moved into a new place...I surprised her tonight with a little house warming gift.

I cut a D out of paper and traced it onto wood. My husband used a scroll saw to cut it out while I worked on making flowers. I love it when he helps me with my projects =) 

The round flowers I hand made out of strips of fabric. 

My mom loved it! 

I can't wait to start on more Fall crafts!
