Hello all! I've got a treat for you today...not one, not two, but three projects made with BEAUTIFUL
Faery Ink images for the DT call. I adore these fun, whimsical, creative images. I love them so much i60 Faery Ink images! I first heard of Faery Ink about a year ago in the Facebook group Kit and Clowder. I saw the image
Destiny Snow Faery and instantly fell in love. I think my favorite
Faery Ink image is the newly released
Destiny Snow Whisper. She is absolutely gorgeous! I will be adding her to my collection very soon!
Oops! Here I go jumping in to my fun and just realized some of you may not know what DT stands for. DT stands for Design Team. A lot of artists and companies that sell craft supplies have design teams. The design team is a group of people that work with the images and/or craft supplies from their company in order to help promote the company and products/images. For instance, I am currently on 4 design teams...The Cutting Cafe, Paper Nest Dolls, Scrapbook Stamp Society and a My Besties New Release Coloring Team. My job as a design team member is to have projects made using images/products from each company on dates designated by the company owner/artist. I then share the project I made on my blog,
Facebook, Instagram, and
Pinterest. Sharing on these social media sights not only puts the company products out there, it helps me promote my blog. Each week, I designate a couple of hours to each design team. If I take on new design team positions, lets say for Faery Ink, I would dedicate a couple hours each week to that position also. Some people might think that's crazy, but crafting is my passion. It brings me so much joy to be able to turn a piece of card stock into a beautiful card.
Destiny Lollipop is the image I chose for my first project. Isn't she gorgeous!?! This is one of those images that "spoke" to me. She had to have red hair and a bright green dress. Bright green is not usually a color that I work with, but it was nice to step out of the comfort zone of my favorite combos.
I colored
Destiny Lollipop and the rest of the images today, with Copic markers. Why? Because Copic markers are my all time favorite coloring medium. The colors blend effortlessly, at least now anyways. When I first started coloring with Copic markers, about two years ago, I thought I'd never get the hang of coloring with them. With help from the awesome Kit and Clowder classes, reading, watching tutorials and LOTS of practice, I have improved my coloring skills immensely.
After
Destiny Lollipop was colored, I decided to make an easel card for her. I started with a 6 & 1/2 x 11 in sheet of white cardstock. I scored the cardstock at 2 & 1/2 inches and 5 inches. I folded the scores to make a kind of triangle over the base of the cardstock and then added a 6 x 6 in piece of card stock for the top portion of the card.
I cut solid colored cardstock to layer the card. Getting about 1/8th of an inch smaller (on each side) with each layer. Then chose a patterned paper that I thought made
Destiny Lollipop stand out. I fussy cut her and adhered her with foam squares st that she would stand up off the card a tad. I then chose a lace and flowers to match the paper and hot glued them on. The card was missing something...that's when I added this gorgeous dragonfly from
Renea's bouquets.
Now on to the second project I made. A card with
Shyflower Fairy. This image was a lot of fun to work with. She looks magical. Which is why I decided to add embossing powder to the image after I colored her. It give it that sparkly look that you often see floating around fairies.
I stayed a bit more traditional with my
Shyflower Fairy card. I just folded a 8 x 11 inch piece of cardstock in half and added layers of solid cardstock and then patterened cardstock. I used laces from Pamela Joys Art Friends on Facebook. assorted flowers and butterflies from Renea's boutquets to embellish. I always use hot glue for adhesive with my flowers. It is easy to use, dries quickly and keeps them in place.
My third project is an altered paper bag using
Destiny Poodle Skirt . This is another one of the
Faery Ink images that I instantly fell in love with.
I used records that I cut out with my Cricut Explore, cardstock, a doily, seam binding, flowers and lace to dress up this little bag. It will be the perfect way to send a special treat to someone special.
AND one more thing...I colored up this adorable
Snickerdoodle & the Snail image. I was trying to remember what a snail shell looked like (you don't see many snails in Alaska) when I decided to go to Pinterest for some inspiration. HOLY SMOKES!! I had no idea that a snail could be so beautiful! They come in just about any color you could imagine. So many possibilities were running through my head. I decided to go with a shell that had several different colors.
I love how it turned out! Coloring is so much fun! This may look like it was hard to color, but I simply chose different colors and went around the shell making little flicks until it was completely colored.
All three of these lovely projects and the coloring of
Snickerdoodle & the Snail will go to people that are in need of a little "pick me up." That's what I do with most of the projects I make. Which is why making cards is my favorite craft. Cards are a great way to show someone that you are thinking of them and bring a smile to their face. Even if its for just a minute. It makes me feel so good to bless others with a little happiness. I think that might be my purpose here on this Earth...to serve others and use my hobbies and talents to brighten peoples day. I have found that doing service for others is a great way to fight depression also. You help yourself while helping others...what could be better? I know it can be hard to put yourself out there...especially if you are like me and are not a real people person, but you really can make a difference in someone's day, maybe even their life by a small simple gesture.
I have been told several times that I need to open up an etsy shop or some other kind of shop to sell my cards. I have thought about this a lot, but haven't decided if I want to turn my hobby into a business.
Thank you all for stopping by to visit. I hope you have enjoyed my
Faery Ink projects.
Have a craftastic day!
Hugs,
Tina
