La-La Land Crafts Masculine Card

Hello friends! It's Inspiration Friday!! This week the La-La Land Crafts Design Team is making masculine cards. If you are anything like me, masculine cards are harder to make. I was excited for the challenge. 

Since I already had Fishing Luka and the truck from the May 2020 Club Kit colored, I wanted to use both of them on this card. I mean what's manlier than trucks and fishing?!? (If you'd like to see the coloring video of the truck continue to the end of this post)

I have really been getting into coloring my own backgrounds in the last couple of months. I know not everyone can or wants to color backgrounds. They take A LOT of time and A LOT of ink. I decided to put together a background using dies and stencils from La-La Land Crafts. Fishing Luka was the perfect image to do that with. 

I started with a basic white piece of cardstock. I used the Water Ripples Layering Stencil to create the water. Before I laid down the stencil, I covered the bottom half of the white cardstock with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. I wanted the water to be two different colors. 

Once the water was done, I used the Summer is Here Layering Stencil to stencil in the clouds. By rotating the stencil a little each time, you can achieve clouds that are more natural-looking. 

Each die was cut out of white cardstock and then colored with Copic Markers. This really makes a big impact on the card. The background looks more hand-done when the dies are colored rather than cut out of colored cardstock.
